Max Hopkins of Bishop's Stortford finished 2nd at the Henry Cooper Junior Masters played at Nizels G&CC in Kent. Max shot a 4 round total of 283 (-5) but finished some 5 shots behind the winner Ben Schmidt of Yorkshire, recent winner of the Men's Brabazon Trophy. For full scores click here.

At The Open Regional Qualifying events played on Monday 24th June, several Herts based players qualified through to Final Qualifying. At Sandy Lodge Glen Portelli of Old Fold Manor, a former double County Boys Champion and now Head Professional at the Barnet based club, qualified in tied 4th position with a round of 67 (-3). Both Jack Slater of Letchworth, Colts Champion in 2017 but now plying his trade as a playing Professional and Jack Kelly of Sandy Lodge made the sudden death play off after returning rounds of 69 (-1). Kelly was the unlucky one who missed out in the 5 players for 4 spots play off, but has subsequently made it through as a high ranking reserve. At Frilford Heath several County 'old boys' qualified - Tom Shadbolt and Mark Laskey both of Brocket Hall finished in a tie for 2nd on 68 (-4) and Jamie Rutherford finished in a tie for 4th a shot back on 69 (-3). Follow their progress at Final Qualifying, played at various venues on Tuesday 2nd July, here.

Elaine Ratcliffe of Essendon was GB&I Captain ar the recently played Vagliano Trophy, a match for amateur ladies between GB&I and Continental Europe, played at Royal St Georges. Herts also had representation on the playing side too when Alice Hewson of Berkhamsted, back from college in the US, made the GB&I team. Unfortunately the Continental team proved too strong and won the match 14.5-9.5. Read a full report for the event here. 

At the County Finals of the Ladies' Pearson Trophy, played at Essendon Country Club on Wednesday 26th June, Moor Park emerged as Herts winners by defeating Welwyn Garden City. Moor Park now progress to the Inter County Final, played in Herts this year at Batchworth Park on Wednesday 24th July and will play against the winners from the other competing counties.
