LADIES SENIORS TEAM ON THE 1ST TEE AT THE BERKSHIRE
Herts Ladies Seniors were treated to a fabulous setting for their match against counterparts from Berks on Mon 29th April. Berks fielded a very strong team to secure their win of 7-0, clearly setting out their stall at the start of the season.
The weather was much kinder than the same match last year and although the sun didn’t make much of an appearance, a dry day was appreciated by all.
The course although stunning was heavily treated with sand, making many a shot challenging. Although beaten, several of the matches were close, where home advantage and handicap differential had its benefits.
A huge thanks to the team namely; Jackie Foster, Cathy Gosling, Sue Allison, Sandra Moses, Karen Ellam and rookies Sarah Hurst-Malin and Moira Sleeman.
Always look on the bright side of life; the season can only get better!
Herts Ladies Seniors were unlucky to lose to Oxon 4-3 on home territory at Essendon GC for their second match of the season on Thursday 9th May.
Although playing on home turf, the Old Course greens proved quite challenging following recent heavy downpours, in addition to being less familiar than the New Course to several players. Fortunately, the hailstones on arrival faded and although rain affected play, it was not the torrential downpour that was predicted.
Many thanks to Jackie Foster, Cathy Gosling, Sue Allison, Sandra Moses, Karen Ellam, Moira Sleeman and Birgitte Karle for all your efforts. Well played to newcomers Birgitte and Moira who sealed their first wins for the Seniors team.
Roll on the summer months when waterproofs can be packed away and hopefully sunscreen used!
