The Men's Champion Club Semi Final events took place last Sunday (Apr 7) at Aldwickbury Park (SF 1) and East Herts (SF 2). Both events saw 10 non exempt clubs at each venue competing to join the 15 exempt clubs at the Final event, to be played at Hadley Wood at the end of the month,. The top 4 clubs from each event, using aggregate gross score from their 3 players on the day, would qualify, meaning 23 clubs will compete for the title of Hertfordshire Men's Champion Club for 2019.
Both semi final events saw exceptional scores from young talented golfers. At Aldwickbury Park 14 year old Reis Suart of Welwyn Garden City returned a score of 67 (-4), while at East Herts 15 year old Jack Bigham achieved the same score of 67 (-4). Fantastic golf from both young men!
As is now commonplace both home venues qualified, with Aldwickbury sneaking in by 1 shot in 4th place from Stocks, while East Herts were more comfortable in 2nd position, albeit some way behind the 1st place Redbourn.
So we now know the clubs who will contest the final will be as follows; Centurion (Holders), Hadley Wood (Hosts), Aldwickbury Park, Ashridge, Berkhamsted, Bishop's Stortford, Brickendon Grange, East Herts, Harpenden, Harpenden Common, Hartsbourne, Knebworth, Letchworth, Moor Park, Old Fold Manor, Porters Park, Redbourn, Sandy Lodge, South Herts, The Hertfordshire, The Shire London, Welwyn Garden City and West Herts. The draw for the Final event will be published later this week.
