Last Saturday (Apr 6) Joss Gosling of Harpenden became the first Hertfordshire based winner of the Berkhamsted Trophy since Sam Claridge of Harpenden Common in 2012. Joss shot rounds of 71, 67, 75 and 70 for a 4 round total of 283 (-1) to win by 2 shots from the chasing pack. Several other Hertfordshire players made the 36 hole cut including Owen Benson of Redbourn who finished in a tie for 8th on 288 (+4), home club hope Ben Pierleoni finished in a tie for 10th on 289 (+5) and Dominic Clemons of Hanbury Manor on 293 (+9) in a tie for 19th. Further down were a Herts trio of Alex Collman of Harpenden Common, Laurie Owen of Letchworth and George Williams of Knebworth on 294 (+10) with Tony Wilkns of Harpenden Common and another home club player Paul Coburn also making the cut.
