JACK SLATER & LAURIE OWEN OF LETCHWORTH - MEN'S LONDON AMATEUR FOURSOMES CHAMPIONS 2018
The delayed semi finals and final of the Men's London Amateur Foursomes were played last Saturday (27th Oct) at Moor Park, after the organised date 2 weeks before was washed out.
The Letchworth pair of Laurie Owen and Jack Slater, both prominent members of the Men's 1st Team squad, were Hertfordshire's sole representatives in the last 4 and managed to win through to the final, where they would defeat Orsett of Essex to win the Championship for the 1st time in the Letchworth club's history.
Letchworth's success also manages to keep the impressive winning shield trophy in Herts for another year after the Berkhamsted pair of Paul Coburn and Luke Colgate won the event in 2017, also at Moor Park.
Strangely Jack had just this past week turned Professional (and was tied 1st in his first event as a Pro at Brocket Hall) but the event organisers, the Surrey Golf Union, decided it was fair and amicable for Jack to continue to play and complete the event at the rearranged date despite his altered status.
Congratulations to Jack and Laurie and all at Hertfordshire Golf obviously wish Jack all the best in the Professional ranks.
