ALYSON NEDZA & HOPE HUME OF MILL GREEN - ANN MACLAURIN TROPHY WINNERS 2018
Having hosted the Boys Under 14’s competition in August, Harpenden Common Golf Club very kindly welcomed a second county event on Sunday September 30th with the popular Ann MacLaurin Trophy.
The Ann MacLaurin Trophy is a Greensomes stableford format competition, played by an adult and junior female pairing with combined handicaps between 20 and 50. 18 teams from 11 different clubs from around the county competed for the solid silver plate donated by the family of Ann MacLaurin.
The weather deteriorated over the course of the event but although it turned cold the rain thankfully stayed away.
With 42 stableford points the winners were Aly Nedza and Hope Hume from Mill Green Golf Club with their greensomes handicap of 19 on the day. Second and third place were settled by countback with both teams scoring 41 points. Val Harrison and Lucy Henderson from Bishop’s Stortford Golf Club took second place, whilst the other half of the ‘sisters’ pairings, Julie Nedza and Esme Hume, also from Mill Green Golf Club, came third. All the winners received John Lewis Vouchers.
Harpenden Common laid on a fantastic ‘high tea’ whilst we all marvelled at the events unfolding at the Paris National in the Ryder Cup. Well done to Europe and well done to all the competitors who took part in the Ann MacLaurin Trophy this year.
