The annual Captain/Secretary Meeting took place last week (Thur 7 June) at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club, located on the outskirts of Harpenden. The course was in splendid condition, particularly the large, sloping, quick greens, which provide a real test for golfers of all abilities.
The best score of the day was achieved by Club Captain of the host venue Colin Anderson and his partner Alex Crawford, who works in the Golf Shop, whom both play off a handicap of 6, with 41 points in the fourball betterball stableford format with 90% handicap allowance.
Three pairs achieved 40 points with a back 9 countback required to determine the runners up were Captain Simon Best and General Manager Kevin Whitehouse of Mid Herts in 2nd place, with Golf Administrator Callum Austin and Captain Andy Bardsley of Old Fold Manor in 3rd. The 'unlucky' pair were Jeremy Both and Steven Fisher of Hartsbourne who missed out on a prize.
The event saw 22 pairs competing in total, 44 players representing some 24 different clubs around the county.
