HGU SENIOR CHALLENGE TROPHY WINNER 2017: GARY EVERITT (BUSHEY HALL)
ALAN GOLDING OF BUSHEY HALL RECEIVING THE TROPHY ON BEHALF OF THE WINNER GARY EVERITT FROM HARPENDEN GC VICE CAPTAIN ALASTAIR RAWLINSON
The Senior Challenge Trophy event was played yesterday (Wed 27 Sep) in glorious autumn sunshine at Harpenden Golf Club (Hammonds End), with a full field of 72 senior golfers taking part. The event is an 18 hole stableford event open to all Herts male senior golfers, aged 55 and over and holding a handicap of 5.5 and above.
The handicaps of the competitors ranged from 6 to 23, with the ages from the newly turned senior golfers at 55, to very experienced regulars in this event still playing good golf well into their 80's!
The best score on the day was achieved by 11 handicapper Gary Everitt of Bushey Hall with an excellent 39 points. Both the runner-up and the 3rd placed player were from the host club Harpenden, with Adrian Marshall on 38 points and Mark Cramer on 37 points.
Unfortunately Gary was not able to receive the trophy as he needed to catch a flight from Gatwick airport, but the trophy was collected on his behalf by Alan Golding of Bushey Hall.
The CSS on the day was 71 against a par of 70 and SSS of 71.
Harpenden were excellent hosts and their newly expanded and designed clubhouse facility was a hit with the players.
Next year's Senior Challenge will be held at Verulam GC in St Albans on Tuesday 25th September.
