Job vacancy - Hertfordshire CDO working 32 hours a week

Hertfordshire is looking for a new County Development Officer to work 32 hours a week helping to drive forward some of the development initiatives in the County.



The vacancy arises as current CDO Rachel Spry is moving on to work at the Olympics from April 2012.

The County Development Officer will be responsible for developing the aims of the Herts Golf Partnership through the strategy identified in the Development Plan.

Main duties will include, continuing to develop and implement the HGP 16+ participation programme, delivering and promoting GolfMark, and maintaining and developing the HGP website and other marketing tools such as social media.

The position is home based, although the successful candidate will be required to travel (vehicle and driving licence essential) as necessary to meetings in and out of the county and occasionally work weekends, evenings and school holidays as required.

Hatfield London golf club has recently been acquired by family-business owners Kieran and Liam Griffin, along with their partners Elaine and Clare. The club will now be renamed Essendon Country Club and will soon join the County Card scheme.


Liam explained the reasons behind purchase from Tokyo Leisure, who have owned the club for 30 years.

He said: "As local residents and golfers ourselves, when the club came up for sale we saw a great opportunity to create a great a family-friendly golfing environment - we both have young families who are keen and starting to play."

""Along with the new name, Essendon Country Club, we will launch a new logo and branding in the spring, ready for the golfing season.

Kieran said: "We are taking our time to assess the situation and we realise there is a great deal of potential here that we want to make the most of.

"With our business expertise, we are confident we can build on the strong foundation here and create an inclusive and integrated club."

Elaine added, "Visitors are always welcome at the club and the County Card scheme will help show off our facilities to a wider audience, as well offering huge benefits to our existing members."

Essendon Country Club features two 18-hole golf courses plus a nine-hole par 3 course, set in an estate of almost 400 acres with a number of privately owned residential properties situated on the estate.

BCR save Hertfordshire clubs £122,000 in 2011

The HGU's first year of partnership with Business Cost Reduction Associates (BCRA) has saved Hertfordshire Clubs a massive total of £122,000 on their energy bills.

Savings varied from £65,000 to £180 across just ten of Hertfordshire's clubs with more clubs scheduled to work with BCRA in 2012.
