HERTFORDSHIRE GOLF UNION RULES SEMINAR

Seminar & Examination for potential Club Rules Officials

As part of its responsibilities to promote the playing of golf to the Rules, the County will be holding whole-day Seminars for potential Rules Officials.

The next seminar will be October 15 2012 followed by a Rules School exam on November 26 2012, both at Hadley Wood.

Seminars are aimed particularly at Club members with a keen interest in, and an above average knowledge of, the Rules of Golf who seek to gain accreditation as Rules Officials.

Those who pass this exam at a high enough level are awarded Club Rules Official status and are then eligible to be used at future County competitions.  After a couple of years at this level, the person may be promoted to county Rules Official and then later to Inter-county (Hertfordshire, Middlesex and Essex).

It is the HGU's aim that in due course every Club in Hertfordshire should have at least one, preferably two, accredited Rules Officials to whom Club members, the Secretary and the Club Professional can turn for assistance in interpreting the Rules of Golf.

The Seminar is an obligatory precursor to sitting the written Inter County Rules Examination, through which applicants may gain accreditation as Club Rules Officials, and if particularly knowledgeable, as County Rules Officials.

Cost for the last seminar in 2010 was £40 for HGU affiliated club members and £50 non-affiliated.
